Post-Operative Autologous Blood Transfusion Simple,
Safe and Effective Blood Transfusion

The use of post-operative autologous blood systems following Total Knee and Total Hip Replacement procedures is now firmly established in many UK hospitals.

Summit Medical has been providing post-operative autologous blood solutions to clinicians for many years. This device is now widely used and offers specific benefits to both patients and nursing staff. Additionally, the use of CellTrans^TM helps to preserve the supplies of bank blood for those procedures where autologous blood transfusion is not an option, and, when used, it is a more cost effective alternative than bank blood, thus saving the hospital money.

One of the main benefits of the device is that it has two separate blood transfer bags attached, allowing for the rein fusion of up to 1200ml of blood and a collection period of up to 12 hours. The blood is also rein fused via the Pall LipiGuard® filter, which is a 40 micron filter but, with the added assurance that the blood is filtered to reduce fat, leucocytes and micro aggregates.
